Thermo King showcases its latest advancements at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo

Thermo King proudly highlighted many smart solutions that will accelerate decarbonization in the cold chain at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, May 1–4, in Anaheim, Calif. And with more than 8500 attendees, 1800 fleets, 275 sponsors and exhibitors, and 80 media representatives, there was plenty of interaction, education and discussion around the products and how they are driving sustainable fleet operations and helping customers meet regulatory policies.

In the spotlight was the new e1000 all-electric transport refrigeration unit for battery-electric Class 5-7 trucks, which integrates with chassis manufacturers Navistar, Daimler Truck North America, and Lion Electric to help companies optimize operational efficiencies, reduce waste and emissions and minimize total cost of ownership. Part of Thermo King’s evolve™ portfolio of electric products, the e1000 is the first large-capacity electric TRU offered in North America that meets regulations for zero emissions, including California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Transport Refrigeration Unit 2023 Standard. At ACT, the e1000 was mounted on Navistar’s International® eMV™ Series, Daimler Truck North America’s Freightliner® eM2®, and Lion Electric’s LION 6 battery electric vehicles (BEV).

The evolve portfolio is leading the way with electric cooling solutions for trucks, trailers, rail, air and sea transport. Thermo King’s commitment to providing efficient end-to-end cold chain solutions will play an important role in meeting Trane Technologies’ 2030 sustainability commitments, including the Gigaton Challenge to reduce customer emissions by 1 billion tons.

“Thermo King is committed to moving the industry forward. We are using the latest technology to develop solutions that bring value to our customers, enabling them to meet business goals and regulatory requirements at their pace,” said Karin De Bondt, president of Thermo King North Americas. “Developing the next generation of cold chain technology requires a deep understanding of customer needs and challenges. With partners such as Navistar and Lion Electric, among others, we have been able to optimize the potential of our capabilities and propel innovation.”

In addition to the e1000, Thermo King’s booth featured:

  • The versatile e200 all-electric TRU for Class 1-4 trucks.
  • Emissions-saving APU solutions: the all-electric TriPac® Envidia and the 3rd generation diesel TriPac APU – the first APU to offer telematics.
  • Information on the evolve™ electric demonstration trailer and shore power solutions highlighting the importance of infrastructure to the success of electric vehicle cargo transport.

Leading the discussion

A key part of the ACT Expo is a focus on education and spotlighting the latest trends, policies, solutions, and technologies transforming advanced clean transportation.

Thermo King product leaders were excited to speak in three different TRU workshop sessions including Market Readiness: Case Studies and Pathways to Scale Zero Emission TRUs and two eTRU Truck Tech Outlook breakouts.
