FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about Nose-Mount Dual Redundant Refrigeration Unit

Pharmaceutical products often have strict temperature requirements, and even a brief temperature variation can compromise product quality. Klinge's Dual Refrigerated Container features two independent, full-capacity refrigeration systems that automatically switch to the backup unit if the primary system fails. This redundancy helps maintain continuous temperature control and provides an extra layer of protection for critical pharmaceutical and life sciences cargo.

The NMR-262 is ideal for transporting temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products that require storage between 0°C (32°F) and -25°C (-13°F). It is commonly used for biologics, vaccines, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), clinical trial materials, specialty medicines, laboratory reagents and other high-value medical products that require reliable cold chain protection.

The Dual Refrigerated Container includes multiple features designed to support valuable pharmaceutical shipments. Standard features include automatic backup refrigeration activation, high-temperature alarms, PIN-protected controls, secure lockable control boxes, built-in performance monitoring and automatic balancing of refrigeration unit runtime. Optional satellite and GSM communication systems enable remote monitoring of cargo temperature, GPS location, alarm notifications and power status, providing greater visibility throughout the supply chain.

Many specialty chemicals, resins, adhesives and hazardous materials must remain within a specific temperature range throughout transport. A refrigeration failure can lead to product degradation, safety risks, regulatory concerns, and costly shipment losses. The NMR-262 refrigerated container systems provide two independent, full-capacity refrigeration systems. If the primary unit experiences a fault, the secondary unit automatically takes over without manual intervention, helping maintain cargo temperature and protect valuable chemical shipments.

The optional integral generator set (Model NMG-118-T4) provides independent power whenever shore power or external electricity is unavailable. This allows the refrigeration systems to continue operating during truck transport, port transfers, or unexpected power outages. With up to 36 hours of operation under full load, the generator helps maintain temperature protection until external power is restored.

Yes. The NMR-262 is specifically designed for transporting dangerous and temperature-sensitive cargo. Features supporting chemical applications include:

  • Compliance with international regulations for transporting dangerous goods
  • Zone 1-rated evaporator motors (T4)
  • Independent thermostats and control circuits for each refrigeration system
  • High-temperature alarms with optional independent temperature alarms through Klinge or 3rd party telematics

These features help support the transport of hazardous chemicals while maintaining required storage temperatures between 0°C and -25°C.

Yes. The NMR-262 refrigerated container system offers a remote monitoring option to improve shipment visibility via GSM and satellite communication. These capabilities allow logistics teams to monitor refrigerated chemical shipments in real time and respond quickly if operating conditions change.
