New Thermo King TracKing Solution Offers More Features, Greater Savings

Thermo King, a manufacturer of transport temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, recently launched the next generation of TracKing, its fleet management system, across Europe. The updated TracKing solution can improve transport energy and operational efficiency and sustainability by saving fuel, reducing maintenance and increasing load protection.

This solution was developed to respond to customer requests for a fleet management system that can be applied to multiple applications: trailer, truck and bus. This innovative product has greater processing power with its higher speed processor and more memory. That Means the GPS/GPRS module will operate faster and have a better response time. Also the power consumption on the new TracKing has been reduced to a minimum hereby increasing the autonomy of the backup battery to 5 days, ensuring more operational coverage of the Track & Trace device.

The Linux operating system allows easier integration of new capabilities. For example, users can upload over the air a fleet temperature profile or manage more geo-fenced areas. The lighter, more compact device is also competitively priced.

Key features include:

  • Remote Management - Users can employ two-way communications to remotely manage reefer functions. The earlier TracKing version allowed users to adjust the set point, to modify the operating mode and to trigger a defrost operation at distance. Adding the remote startability of the reefer gives the operator greater fleet control while minimizing the risk of lost loads or dead batteries.
  • Event logging and notification via E-mail or SMS - TracKing can alert up to five users about significant events via E-mail or SMS, preventing theft or tampering. As soon as the system senses an event exceeding established thresholds - a trailer door remaining open, a change of operating mode or temperature, or a sudden drop of fuel level, it broadcasts a notification.
  • Dashboard - The TracKing website,, has a customizable dashboard to display seven key indicators per vehicle at a glance. The Thermo King reefer data are visible via a direct and easy-to-read access giving the user details about position, utilization ratio, current temperature charts and temperature history graphs as well as recent alarms.

The new TracKing also comes with its own telemetry tool for quick installation checks and easy diagnostics. The software provides instant confirmation of the TracKing setup via 3 tests:

  • GPS satellite reception
  • GSM/GPRS network coverage
  • Configuration settings review

Diagnostics is also made easier as the tool returns detailed messages in case of failure. The tool can also generate test reports with results saved and then sent by e-mail for rapid and accurate support.
