Ingersoll Rand Inaugurates New Manufacturing Site for Trane and Thermo King in Kolín, Czech Republic

Kolín, Czech Republic, June 3, 2014 - Today, Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, will inaugurate its new state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing, light assembly and distribution of Trane and Thermo King climate control systems in Ovčáry-Kolín, Czech Republic.

The new site will replace operations of the downtown-Kolín manufacturing facility, which has been in operation since 1992, and will continue production of Thermo King and Trane products.

The facility manufactures Thermo King air conditioning units for bus and rail transportation vehicles for customers around the globe. Trane water terminals and small to medium-sized chillers for commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are also manufactured in this location.

"Ingersoll Rand has been a proud citizen of Kolín for more than two decades and with this new facility we continue to strengthen our operations in the region," said Jeff Greene, vice president, integrated supply chain for Ingersoll Rand.

"We value the legacy and partnership with the communities where we live and work. The support from local government, and strong community connections have been important factors to the continued success of our company. Ingersoll Rand is proud to contribute to the enhancement of the Ovčáry-Kolín community and the lives of the people and institutions who reside here."

Ingersoll Rand is currently represented in the Czech Republic by production plants in Kolín, Uničov and the Engineering and Technology Center in Prague Hostivice.

About the Facility

Built on 90,000 square meters of land in Ovčáry-Kolín, the site consists of 25,000 square meters production and warehouse areas and more than 3,400 square meters of office space, which includes a canteen and medical room. An additional 5,000 square meters is available for future expansion.

The new facility demonstrates Ingersoll Rand's commitment to building sustainable facilities and decreasing its environmental footprint. The new facility incorporates a number of sustainability features to optimize energy efficiency, water use and waste disposal while also ensuring employee comfort.

Energy savings will be achieved through improved insulation, advanced building façades and various climate control measures including double-glazed windows, automatically controlled shading systems and airtight docking and leveling systems.

Furthermore, indigenous trees cover more than 40 percent of the site and the facility provides additional sustainability features such as: preferred parking spots for low-emission and fuel-efficient vehicles, a wet pond that collects rainwater for use in toilets leading to significant reduction in portable water, and a solar hot water heating system.
